The Vortex-Induced-Vibration Analysis (VIVA) and VIV Analysis for Riser Array (Vivarray) programs were developed and are continuously improved through a continuous series of joint industrial projects (JIPs) of VIVA, Vivarray and New-VIVA. These programs have adopted a pragmatic analysis methodology based on experimental tests and rigorous structural modeling, and start to incorporate data from field measurements.
JD Marine is a main contractor to the JIP. We are in charge of developing interface program WinVIVA and provide software support.
The current phase of the JIP, New-VIVA VI, is organized by Prof. Michael Triantafyllou at MIT Ocean Engineering Testing Tank. The purpose of the JIP is to enhance the open source VIVA program, to include high-harmonic effect on fatigue, to add new database based on field data, and to improve the reliability of the prediction.
